Da Mario – ££ – 9/10
12 Queens Rd, Bournemouth BH2 6BE, UK
Our favourite restaurant in all of Bournemouth is Da Mario’s. Named after the head chef, who made the pizzas from hand and wood fired it’s a family run pizzeria, serving arguably the best pizza in Bournemouth, at arguably the best price. You’re looking at around £10 for the average pizza, eat in or take away.
It’s not a massive place, and gets very busy because of how good the pizza is, so worth booking in advance. The service is great, they are very friendly and welcoming, even when it’s busy they’ll stop for a chat and talk you through the daily specials etc, very knowledgeable about the menu items and the ingredients in them.
Da Mario’s does not have an alcohol licence, so you can bring your own or buy it at the Co-op next door. They charge a corkage fee for a few quid, but it means you have a bottle of wine for the table for under a tenner, which is rare for any normal restaurant.
I like a meaty pizza so my favourites were the Inter, Diavolo, Vesuvio and Da Mario.
No complaints about this place, although you will need to bring cash as no card payments are accepted.
